Gold Earring Are a Thing of the Past

Gold Earring aren't anything new! Earrings have been a fashion statement in many cultures throughout the ages. In late 2008 a 2,000 year old earring was found by archaeologists in Jerusalem. It was surprisingly well preserved and was made of gold, emeralds, and pearls. But much older earrings have been unearthed in other cultures throughout the world.

They were unearthed in Inner Mongolia and are said to date back to between 7500 and 8200 years ago.

In England in 2007 John Caluori found a pair of Gold Earring that are approximately 4,500 years old. The earrings are discs that are 3 centimeters wide. They are the oldest known metalwork in Britain.

The popularity of earrings has waxed and waned over the centuries depending upon the economic climate and the fashion of the time. For example, during the Dark Ages most people lived in poverty and few could afford such luxuries. And in 16th century Italy earrings regained wide use when high collars began to disappear and the ears became more visible.

Clip on earrings weren't created until the 20th century. Up until that time, piercing of the ears was the way people wore their earrings. Today, some have just a single piercing in each ear while others have numerous piercings up and down the ears. And, it's no wonder that people have more and more piercings in each ear these days. There are such a variety of earrings available that it is certainly tempting to create more places to show off these fabulous accessories.

While there are some very beautiful earrings being made these days there's nothing quite like wearing a pair of Gold Earring. Vintage costume earrings are relatively inexpensive and can add a touch of fun and whimsy to a wardrobe. And, on the other end of the spectrum, fine quality vintage pieces can add a touch of elegance to an evening gown and other formal outfits.

Fabulous vintage jewelry may be found in a wide variety of locations. Gold Earring as well as rings, necklaces, bracelets, and other pieces may be found at local consignment shops and thrift stores. They may also be discovered at garage sales, estate sales, antique stores, and online auction sites. The most important thing is to take some time and do a little research before you go shopping for vintage treasures.
